Sonoma, California, May 11, 2012 – At the May 10 groundbreaking ceremony for the new Sonoma Valley Hospital (SVH) Emergency Care Center (ER), Gary and Marcia Nelson, longstanding champions of the ER, pledged a $3 million charitable gift specifically for the new Emergency Center, which will open in 2013.

“The Nelsons have made a truly historic contribution to the hospital,” said hospital CEO Kelly Mather in accepting the pledge. “Nothing could be more valuable to us right now than this demonstration of confidence in the hospital’s future. We are overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement.”

In making the gift, Gary Nelson said, “The SVH Emergency Room is a critical and essential service to all of us in this community. It serves every single resident and visitor in time of need, from the poorest to the most wealthy. When a health crisis takes place in our valley, we need a state-of-the-art ER with the equipment and staff required to save the lives of our friends and families.”

Offering a personal anecdote, Nelson went on to say, “Thirty years ago, our son Justin, who was just three months old at the time, was saved from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) by the physicians in the SVH ER. Marcia delivered him to the hospital barely alive, blue. Having the emergency room so close saved him. We have never forgotten how fortunate we were to have this hospital nearby.”

Marcia said Justin is now completing his education at the Royal Veterinary College in London, England, where he lives with his wife, Maria, and their one-year-old daughter, Alexandria.

In announcing the contribution, Marcia said, “We hope our gift will help ensure that quality lifesaving ER services are available for years to come in Sonoma. One can argue about many healthcare issues in the US, but on a day-to-day basis, we need to serve the young, the old, and everyone in between in our valley. This is a worthy investment.”

Gary and Marcia are the founders and major shareholders of the Nelson Family of Companies headquartered in Sonoma. Nelson is one of the leading human capital and staffing firms in Northern California.

Sonoma, California, February 27, 2012 – Nelson announced today that it has been named to Inavero’s 2012 Best of Staffing Client list and Talent list. Best of Staffing, presented in partnership with CareerBuilder, is the nation’s first award that recognizes staffing firms that receive remarkable reviews from the people they place and/ or from the clients who hire that talent. Fewer than 1% of North American staffing firms have been named to either list and fewer still make both lists as Nelson has done, excelling in both categories.

“With less than 1% of staffing firms in the US and Canada being named to the Best of Staffing lists, we are proud to be counted among that elite group,” said Craig S. Nelson, CEO. “We strive to build strong relationships with all stakeholders based on the high integrity of our staff and the excellent service we provide in filling open positions quickly and effectively.”

Staffing firms competing to make the Best of Staffing lists underwent a rigorous survey process followed by careful analysis of responses to determine satisfaction levels. Nelson received satisfaction ratings of 9 or 10 out of 10 from 57.9% of clients and 60.9% of talent, significantly higher than the industry’s average. In fact, Nelson secured spots on both lists by earning an average Net Promoter Score of nearly double the national staffing industry benchmark for client and talent satisfaction.

“The staffing industry continues to play a key role in helping to revitalize the economy,” said Eric Gregg, Inavero’s Founder and CEO. “Staffing firms give growth-minded organizations a more flexible alternative to recruiting their own employees, letting both the employee and employer determine if the fit is right for a more permanent position. Both sides receive tremendous value in a flexible, yet meaningful working relationship, and as they engage with staffing firms to help achieve those goals, the service experience they have is very important to their success. The Best of Staffing lists are a resource for businesses and talent who are trying to find staffing firms that provide exceptional service.”

The Nelson Family of Companies, a multi-divisional human capital solutions company, announced today that long-term Director Mr. Monty A. Houdeshell has been elected as its new Chairman of the Board, replacing Gary D. Nelson, Founder of the Nelson Family of Companies and Chairman since 1970.

This appointment is part of the planned transition in leadership at Nelson following the previously announced sale of a majority interest in its WorkforceLogic division to ZeroChaos and the departure of former CEO Catherine Candland. Replacing Candland as CEO of the Nelson Family of Companies is Craig S. Nelson.

“Having a well-experienced board Chair who is not a family member is a new and exciting direction for us,” said Craig Nelson. “As Monty focuses on oversight of board operations and corporate governance, I can concentrate fully on building the business, maintaining successful client relationships, and ensuring a fun and productive workplace for our staff.”

An innovative executive who has led numerous corporate transitions resulting in favorable outcomes for management, clients, and employees, Houdeshell has been a valued member of Nelson’s board since 2006, most recently serving as Chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee. He has served as the CFO and CAO for publicly-traded companies in a variety of industries in addition to human capital, including communications technology, healthcare, and manufacturing. Currently Principal at Houdeshell Advisors, LLC, he serves clients in an interim executive capacity or as an advisor to CEOs and boards on a variety of strategic and operational issues. He holds a B.S in Finance from The Ohio State University and an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Business Development from the University of Southern California, and currently resides in Laguna Niguel, California.

“I have full confidence in Monty’s ability to lead our board during this next period of the company’s evolution,” said Gary Nelson. “In addition to Monty’s experience in staffing and board leadership, he’s a hands-on professional in strategic planning and corporate governance. Under his guidance, we’re expecting great things in 2012.”

Sonoma, California, January 16, 2012 – Craig S. Nelson, son of Founder Gary D. Nelson, is taking over as CEO of the Nelson Family of Companies, transitioning from his role as Executive VP of Staffing Services into the role of CEO, effective January 12, 2012. Craig takes over from Catherine Candland who is joining ZeroChaos following the recent sale of Nelson’s WorkforceLogic division to them.

Says Gary Nelson, “For more than 40 years, I have put my heart and soul into this company. Craig has been with Nelson over ten years and has established strong relationships with staff, clients, and members of the community. I anticipate this will be a smooth transition and the company will thrive under Craig’s leadership.”

No newcomer to leadership, prior to going to work for Nelson as General Counsel in 2001, Craig Nelson spent seven years with the Criminal Division of the California Department of Justice, and before that, three years as a litigator with the Law Offices of Bowles and Verna. He has a Masters of Law from the University of San Diego, his Juris Doctor from Hastings College of Law, and degrees in Business Administration and Economics.

“My father leads by example,” says Craig Nelson. “I will, of course, bring my own style to the role of CEO, but there are many ways in which I will follow his successful path. Being an innovator in the field of staffing and changing the way businesses utilize talent and technology to support their strategic goals is certainly something I will emulate.”

Gary Nelson and the company under his leadership has, indeed, had its share of success. Just this year named one of 100 top influential staffing leaders by SIReview, Gary Nelson built his company from a one-office, one-assistant operation to a corporation consisting of 17 locations and more than 300 employees. In 2011, Nelson won NorthBay Biz magazine’s Best Job Placement service and the Bay Area News Group’s Top Workplaces. The company’s success is indicated not only in awards received, though, but also in revenue. For the last two years running, Nelson has surpassed industry growth rates, with 31% growth in 2010 and 16% in 2011, against industry rates of 12% in 2010 and 10% in 2011.

Sonoma, California, January 10, 2012 – The Nelson Family of Companies today announced the sale, effective January 1, 2012, of a majority and controlling interest in its WorkforceLogic division to ZeroChaos, a global workforce solutions company based in Orlando, Florida, along with its financial partner Snow Phipps.

The combination of WorkforceLogic and ZeroChaos provides its clients with an expanded menu of workforce solutions, including statement of work and professional services, spend management, and business analytics. It also offers a formidable supplier network providing great access to quality talent.

Robert W. Baird served as the exclusive financial advisor to WorkforceLogic on this transaction with ZeroChaos and the Snow Phipps group. Snow Phipps, a New York private equity firm, acquired ZeroChaos in 2010 and subsequently Madeo, a Swedish managed services company, in 2011. Nelson will retain a minority interest in the new combined organization.

“Our decision to complete this transaction was based on serving the best long-term interests of our many multinational WorkforceLogic customers and the need to diversify the Nelson family’s assets,” stated Gary D. Nelson, Founder and Chairman of the Board.

When combined, the two companies provide a far greater global reach and the ability to further refine the technology that supports the WorkforceLogic VMS and MSP offering, already rated a Top Performer in 2010 and 2011 by Staffing Industry Analysts. Said Nelson, “In a consolidating market that demands ever more in terms of value and services offered, the combination of WorkforceLogic’s top-performing VMS and MSP services with the strength of the 1.5-billion-dollar-strong ZeroChaos company will increase our capabilities both domestically and internationally.”

Compelling to many potential investors during the sale process was the fact that WorkforceLogic possessed a portfolio of top-quality, emerging-market clients and a strong management team. In its 15 years in the field, WorkforceLogic established a strong track record of success in compliance, risk mitigation, and payroll services, the value of which will be maximized at ZeroChaos.
